About LOELOH & Me

About LOELOH

Earth is our home, our collective home, and we have over 7.7 billion human roommates, countless number of plants, animals, and microbes, all living together under the same sky.  The generations of humans before us did not realize the impact that burning fossil fuels would have on the atmosphere and inevitably the Earth’s climate. I grew up recycling and constantly being told by my dad to turn off lights when leaving a room.  One reminder that still makes me smile was my dad’s instruction to keep our front door closed because we are not trying to cool the entire state of North Carolina with our air conditioner.  I’ve continued to recycle and turn off lights in rooms but as Leonardo Dicaprio said in “Before the Flood,”  we are “beyond that point,” of changing light bulbs.  When the U.S. pulled out of the Paris Climate Agreement in 2017, I realized I needed to do more for our Earth, but how?  I know I am not the only one with this question.  My goals for this blog is to share with you how to reduce our carbon emissions in our communities and in our homes.  We are all in this together, despite all that divides us, this is our earth and our home.

Additional Tidbit About LOELOH and Me

My name is Christine and I am a big believer in love, in small acts and in big ones.  They all add up to make the world a little better and our world has a lot of room for more love.  Loeloh is a play on the word “Lolo” which means grandfather in Tagalog, the main language of the Philippines.  Family is one of my most cherished values.  My own Lolo, is revered in our family as a boundless source of love.  LOELOH is also a nod to both of my parents, my mom’s and my own Filipina heritage and the values my dad instilled in me of cherishing and protecting our Earth.

Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat! (Thank you everyone!)
